Beginner1.0–2.0 Adv. Beginner2.5 Intermediate3.0 Adv. Intermediate3.5 Advanced4.0+New to the game or played only a handful of times. You're learning the rules, scoring, and basic mechanics — paddle grip, ball striking, and court boundaries. Clinics focus on court safety, foundational footwork, and getting into real game situations fast.
You know the game but your skills need sharpening. You can sustain longer rallies, use your backhand, and are starting to dink and lob — but shot selection needs work. Clinics cover dinking fundamentals, serve and return consistency, kitchen rules, and basic team movement.
You understand all the rules and positioning. "Serve & Stay" and "Return & Run" are part of your game. Focus shifts to consistency and shot selection — dropping 50% from transition, hitting 80%+ of serves and returns, and building purposeful dinking with footwork and team strategies.
Dinks and groundstrokes are 70%+ accurate, 3rd shot drops attempted half the time, and serves/returns are dependably deep. Hand speed, mobility, and team strategies like stacking are developing. Clinics focus on 3rd shot mastery, transition under pressure, playing at multiple speeds, and advanced shot control.
Full command of the rules and most shot techniques. The game is about point construction — serve through overhead, attacking and resetting, lobbing, and a high pickleball IQ. Clinics stress intense drilling, offensive mindset, controlling the point, and advanced shots like ATPs and Ernes.
